Jean Chalopin (a.k.a. Jean Cheville)

Jean has been a writer, animator and artist visionary, who found in film making a natural outlet to his visions and expression. From a very young age he learned every step, creatively and technically, of the television and film creative process. Jean was the first person worldwide to produce a computer generated animated segment (1981); the first to produce a true 3-D TV series (1987), and the first to use motion-capture, in cooperation with artist Mike McNeilly, to create live pictures (since 1997).

With Jean living in Switzerland, and Mike in Los Angeles, New York became the place where the two artists meet and work to invent and produce a new art form they call ‘Artlived’, using a combination of writing, artwork, computer rendering and wireless motion-capture.

Jean Chalopin was knighted “Chevaliers Des Arts et des Lettres” (Knight of Arts and Literature) by the French Government in 1992. He is a member of the ‘Société des AuteursCompositeursDramatiques’ (Writer Guild of France) since 1969, and of ‘Société des Auteurs, Compositeurs, Editeurs de Musique’ (Music Guild of France) since 1978.
